Coady Cheek

I was born in a small, farming community in rural Illinois. My mother worked in the healthcare industry and my father worked in transportation and farming. He still farms back in Illinois today, primarily focusing on corn and soybeans. I have an identical twin brother, Chase, and an older brother, Cameron. Chase lives in Lakeland and my older brother lives in North Chicago.

I was athletic growing up, playing both basketball and baseball in high school. I attended college at a community college in Illinois before transferring to Southeastern University in 2008. I met my wife, Ashley, shortly after graduation as I was participating in a Leadership program with my employer at that time. Ashley was interning and leading the program, and we connected. We married in 2014 and bought our first home (built 1950) in one of Lakeland’s historic districts.

Currently, Ashley works part-time for a local real estate developer here in Lakeland. On the other days, she loves and cares for our girls at home. The Lord has blessed us with two beautiful daughters, Annie (3) and Lilly (17 months). Ashley and I were a part of our church plant, The King’s Church Lakeland. We participated in the core group before officially launching in Fall 2018. I currently serve as Deacon and Treasurer with the church in addition to sitting on the Finance Committee. I find it a great joy to serve the local church and its people. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, running and playing basketball.
