Church Growth Investment Fund

Ministry Celebration

July 25, 2015

Ancient City Baptist Church

Saint Augustine, Florida

In 1990, the Trustees of Florida Baptist Foundation recognized that the population growth in Florida would far exceed the ability of the Florida Baptist Convention and its affiliated churches to fund new mission efforts through traditional sources.  The Trustees committed to find a God sized means to generate additional resources for these critical needs.  It was concluded that the dollars which Baptists hold as savings represents one of the greatest uptapped sources of funding mission work and that pooling these resources could best be done by a new corporation.  The mission of the new corporation would be to offer investments to Florida Baptists in a fund that would make loans to churches and other entities affiliated with the Florida and Southern Baptist Convention.  In April of 1991, Florida Baptist Investment Services, later renamed to Church Growth Investment Fund, was conceived to accomplish this mission.

On Saturday, July 25, 2015, investors, staff and board members of Church Growth Investment Fund gathered at Ancient City Baptist Church in Saint Augustine, Florida to thank God for His provision for the ministry of Church Growth Investment Fund.  Eddie McClelland, President of Church Growth Investment Fund, thanked the investors for their trust in the company.  Through the investment of funds in the company, over 200 qualified churches have received loans to assist them in reaching their communities for Christ.

A short video was shown that outlines the ministry and the impact it has had on the churches who have received loans.  Rev. Albert Byrd, Pastor of Holiday Hill Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, shared his experience in constructing a new worship facility and the impact it has had on the ministry of the church.  He shared that "the new worship facility not only has given us more space for people to worship but has also allowed the church to relate better to its community.  The members of the church have taken a renewed role in reaching out to the community."

Michael Rhine, Director of Church Finance, shared that "through your investment in Church Growth Investment Fund, thousands of lives have been impacted.  Church Growth Investment Fund reached over $100 million in total assets during 2014.  Through the years, nearly $150 million in loan funds have been advanced.  While this is a large figure, the impact that these loan funds have had on the ministries of the churches that received them is even greater.  People have placed their trust in Jesus as their Savior and been baptized.  Churches have ministered to meet the needs of those in their communities.  New churches have been started.  All because you choose to invest with Church Growth Investment Fund."

Another video was shown where Pastors of various churches that have received loans from Church Growth Investment Fund added their "thank you" to the investors.  After a closing prayer by Dr. David Rice, Pastor of Ancient City Baptist Church and Chairman of Church Growth Investment Fund, a meal was served followed by a trolley tour of historic Saint Augustine.
